Why KIlimanjaro?

Some mountains choose you. I've been fundraising and supporting the Ulman Foundation for over a decade. As a four-time cancer survivor, I've done a great deal of adventures and experiences to raise funds and awareness for young adult cancer support. I ran half and full marathons, coached survivors in their first 5k road race, biked from Baltimore to Key West, Florida, helped break ground on a new free housing option for cancer patients and much more.

I explored many places around the world and done spectacular hikes, searching for unique and meaningful experiences. And while searching for the next thing that would require physical, emotional, and mental attention — in the best way to mix my dedication to the Ulman Foundation and to myself, there it was. Africa's highest peak, rising out of the Tanzanian plains into permanent glacier, demanding everything.

This is my record of the months leading up to departure and every hour on the mountain itself — the training failures, the altitude anxiety, the gear obsessions, and whatever happens when I finally face that summit ridge. All for the greater cause and mission: helping support young adults in their cancer journey. Join me on this journey and support the best way you feel most comfortable.
